MUSTANG REPORT...

Okay, I've had the Mustang for 8 days now and in that time, I've put 1,089 miles on it!  Yeah, I REALLY like driving this thing.  The last 2 tanks have averaged 21.2 and 22.1 miles per gallon, which I think is OUT-frickin'-STANDING, considering the power this thing has and all of it was 87 octane gas, too!

The title finally came in the mail and I got the "GNWRITR" license plate transferred off the '07 Ford farm 4x4 pick-up to the Mustang today.  So if you see a good lookin' dark blue 2010 Mustang go past ya with that tag, yeah, IT'S ME!

I took the car up to the local grain elevator yesterday and had it weighed with 5/8ths of a tank of gas.  It weighs 3,580 pounds.  Which with its available power means it will accelerate when you punch it HARD!  I won't go into details because this is a 'semi-family friendly' blog, but believe me it will keep up with most any striped-ass ape out there and unless the road is wet or dirty, it puts the power down very efficiently and stays HOOKED-UP.  There is no wheel-spin of any kind which is another surprise for someone who remembers burning rubber at the drop of a hat -- literally.

Computer and phones aren't the only products that have advanced technology today, that's for sure.

And Oh Yeah, as a reminder if you want to contribute to the proverbial tip jar, you can go here and help the kid with his project and MY THANKS to all of you who have already...

All The Best,

I just looked fro the weight of a '65 Mustang Fastback. Bunch of sites and forum postings put it about 2800 lbs. Printed specs show the notchback 50 lbs lighter than the fastback.
I think mine went about 3000, but it had a toploader trans behind a '68 302, bigger wheels and tires and brakes, and was the 2+2.

So, where's the extra weight in the newer car?

Will: I really don't have a clue, but it's been my experience that published weights and ACTUAL weight are seldom the same.

That's why I drove onto the elevator scales.

I wonder if they weigh the fluids required in that published weight you mention?...
