GOTTA REQUEST...

As many have probably surmised from reading this silliness over the years I'm a big movie buff and it's pretty plain that much of that affliction has rubbed off onto our son (from a very early age) because the day after he graduated from college here in Indiana he moved on his own to Hollywood!  He's been out there for several years now and he's working his way through the biz, so to speak.

A couple of years ago he made his own short film entitled "SHOTGUN WEDDING".  It's only 2 minutes long and you can find it on Vimeo (if you know how to search for that stuff.  I don't.) and now he's started on another film project of his own.  (SHOTGUN WEDDING, by the way, was good enough to be accepted by the Pasadena "Action On Film" film festival as well as a film festival held in New York City as it was shown in both.)  He enjoys semi-regular employment, but his ultimate goal is to become a 'Film-Maker' and there's only one way to do that.

Pure and simple, HE HAS TO MAKE FILMS!

He is extremely interested in the music scene and the new groups that are becoming popular, on a local basis, in Los Angeles.  A group that has really captured his imagination is "Manhattan Murder Mystery", which can best be described as a 'modern' blues band.  Their music is original and not something copied from others.

What he is going to do later this month is film a music festival of sorts 'on location' at a place called 'Slab City' near the Salton Sea in southern California.  He chose this location because it looks for all intents and purposes like something AFTER the Apocalypse everyone keeps predicting

Essentially, the Salton Sea is a zone that everyone in local and state government would like to forget and they still ignore on a consistent and daily basis.  I'm not fully versed on all the specifics but it's more or less an extremely failed planned 'resort' community from 50 years ago where uncommon greed overcame good common sense in every way possible; both financially, governmentally and environmentally.

The result is desolation, but that ties in perfectly with my son's theme that music will survive the Apocalypse....IF it happens!

Therefore, he's going to film and sponsor a music festival that happens AFTER the Apocalypse.  Naturally, endeavors such as this take resources; i.e. as in money.

I've never had advertising on this blog, nor have I ever had a 'tip' jar, but he could use your help in this project so if over the years you've enjoyed the 'free ice cream' and it's flavor from my posting, then I (and my son) would appreciate it greatly if you would go here and at least order a t-shirt or contribute financially in some other fashion.

The website is pretty self-explanatory and explains what he's trying to do far better than I can.  Thank you for any help you feel free to give...

All The Best,
Frank W. James
