R.I.P. KENT LOMONT...
I just got a call from a good friend that it had been reported Kent Lomont died yesterday. John Ross (author of "UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES" and a very close friend of Kent's) posted on TheHighRoad.org that Kent died yesterday evening around 6:30PM. He was 66 years old.
I had heard that he was in hospice because of cancer. He was diagnosed six months ago and to my understanding he had multiple tumors.
I have known Kent Lomont for many years and he was truly a legend. I don't think I will e'var meet anyone who has fired as many personally owned rounds through firearms as Kent did. He 'lived' for guns and was one of the most knowledgeable authorities on heavy Smith & Wesson revolvers, the Auto-Mag handgun design and fulll-auto/select-fire machine guns of any description that ever lived. The big difference between Kent and every other expert out there is he shot everyone of those guns to destruction and therefore he knew what they would do and what they wouldn't.
He spent his teenage summers with Elmer Keith and for years was the main attraction at the Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot where he became known as "Constant" Lomont; as in he was 'constantly' on the trigger!
It was my rare privilege in life to know and call him my friend. I respected his opinions and knowledge without question, he truly was a GIANT in the firearms industry of the late 20th Century and early 21st Century.
He is survived by his four children; Lane, Jill, Chris and Molly, stepdaughters Candy and Sherry, and ex-wives; Kathy, Shirley and Mary Lou.
America's firearms industry and community lost a wealth of knowledge, a great story teller and a loyal friend with his passing...
All The Best,
Frank W. James

My condolences for the loss of your friend. As we lose those who truly KNOW guns and equipment, I wonder who will replace them, and what if any qualifications they will have...
I understand one of the characters in "Unintended Consequences" was based on this gentleman. Which character would that have been?
Anon 10:48: I'm not sure. You would have to ask John Ross. Goggle John Ross & The Gun Culture and you will get his website. Leave him a question...

I bought an automag in the 70's and needed some information on making brass for it. I just called him up and asked. He was gracious enough to take the time to tell me everything I needed to know. Quite friendly and happy to talk guns. A sad day in gunville.

Kent Lomont was a good friend of mine. The Gun World lost one of its best. He lived to shoot. My Friend sold Kent his first Machine Gun back in the late 70s, And after that he went nutts with them. Kent had everything and shot everything. Knob Creek will never be the same with out Kent. SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OLD FRIEND!
Kent was "Alan Kane" in Unintended Consequeces.
He was alan kane in the john ross book.
he had also has a stepson named Daniel that wasnt mentioned.
