THIS IS RIDICULOUS...

Okay, I got everything in place this morning. Filled the tractor with diesel, actually OVER-filled it because the nozzle wouldn't shut off...there went about $4 of liquid gold...and I was ready to start the final run on my soybean planting.

In any event, the forecast this morning on several sites said it was a 30% chance of rain. Well, guess what? About 2:00PM this afternoon the sky at the horizon started getting dark in the west. I, wisely it turned out, anticipated the worst and put the seed wagons inside after filling the grain drill. A little after 3:00PM it started raining...so much for getting a good start on getting the soybeans finished.

But the tractor seat time got me to thinking about some of the things I witnessed, experienced and overheard during my brief stay on the left coast. I think the issue of ethanol made from corn as a motor fuel best illustrates the hypocrisy of the liberals and other 'bright lites' who feel so smug in their moral supremacy.

A couple of years ago they were in favor of ethanol from corn, but now they are opposed because it is raising the price of food. When confronted with the hard reality that it is the price escalation of fossil fuels that is putting the greatest price increase experienced with the food supply they still won't acknowledge the advantages offered by corn ethanol at this point in time (I'm not saying it is the end all, but right now it's the best game we have) and they argue it is bad because it is increasing the loss of precious farm ground........Say What?

Rather than listen to their warped reasoning, I asked in response "Where exactly do you live?" I mean when you say such things and are obviously doing it with a straight face, are you also living in a multi-story high rise apartment complex? Because if that is the argument, then the only ones who can argue these statements with any moral authority are only those who live in a very tall apartment building that was not built upon on former farm ground.

The greatest threat to tillable farm ground is not the increased use of corn ethanol, but urban sprawl, otherwise known as "The Suburbs", and if such critics live in one of the 'burbs' while complaining about corn ethanol contributing to the loss of tillable acres, they are among the greatest of all hypocrites and, in my opinion, are far worse than a practicing prostitute who sits in the front pew of a Sunday morning church service and then passes out business cards when the sermon is over.

At least, that whore knows she IS a whore!

All The Best,
Frank W. James

Nice, but your have been farming and writing about and using firearms for years - how could you even think that there is logic on the left? But nice that you try and thanks for sharing. I get smarter every time I drop by.

I like the way you think buddy. I am glad I found this blog. I forget who pointed me in this direction but I think it was Tam of "View from the Porch" and "The Arms Room" fame.

I'm sure glad she showed me this blog. It's one of my "must reads" now.
